Mwiruti Secondary School is located along Lanet- Dundori road about 16 kms from Nakuru town. It is situated within Danger trading centre in Dundori Division of Nakuru district. The school covers an approximate area of 8 acres.
SOCIAL ECONOMIC STATUS
The school serves a community that relies on substance farming mainly engaged in the growing of maize, potatoes and vegetables as well as dairy farming. The post election violence of 2007/2008 has seen an upsurge immigrants into the area as well as the tarmacking of the Lanet –Dundori Road.
HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
The school opened its doors to the public on 2010 by admitting its first 22 students in February 2010.The 1st Principal, Mr. James Muhoro was posted in July 2010. The school was housed by Mwiruti Primary school upto January 2012 when the school was able to construct two permanent classes with funding from Subukia Constituency Fund. The school has since then moved to its compound.
The school is currently fully registered as a single streamed co –educational secondary school 2011 and is now allocated Free Secondary Education Funds (FSE) by the Ministry of Education. The school has been able to move from the premises of Mwiruti primary school that had temporarily housed the secondary into the school’s 4 classrooms and an office block. The school has further received new postings of teachers from the Teachers Service Commission currently totalling 5. The school has a further three teachers serving under the BOG and a further 4 support staff.. The school has a fully constituted Board of Governors’ and Parent Teacher Association. The Subukia CDF kitty has made it possible for the construction of 4 classrooms and an office block
